JOB OVERVIEW:
WEDU PBS is seeking a creative and dynamic Freelance Social Media Content Creator to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for producing engaging video and graphic content for social media platforms, primarily focusing on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. You will use your deep understanding of social media trends and “internet culture” to create content that resonates with audiences while staying true to the integrity of the PBS and WEDU brands.
Your work will include creating memes, short vertical videos, and other visual content using trending sounds and ideas from social media. You will also collaborate with our Digital Media Manager and our Digital Video Content Creator on video shoots and contribute as an on-camera presence during events and community initiatives. POSITION SUMMARY:
- Create and produce video content for social media platforms, with a focus on Instagram andTikTok.
- Develop memes and graphics using Canva and other tools that align with PBS programming and social media trends.
- Monitor and adapt to social media trends, incorporating trending content and sounds into videos while maintaining WEDU PBS’s brand integrity.
- Collaborate with the Digital Video Content Creator during video shoots, assisting with production needs as required.
- Serve as the face of WEDU PBS for events and community initiatives, appearing on camera and engaging with audiences through Instagram and TikTok.
- Ensure all content reflects the values and educational mission of PBS and WEDU.
- Quickly turn around creative ideas into high-quality content in response to evolving social media trends.
- Assist with other social media tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in creating video and graphic content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook preferred).
- Strong knowledge of PBS programming and the ability to leverage PBS content to engage audiences.
- Fluent in internet culture and social media trends, with the ability to quickly adapt and create relevant content.
- On-camera presence and comfort in front of the camera for video shoots and live events.
- Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, and other tools to create memes and videos.
- Ability to work collaboratively and assist in video production.
- Experience managing social media accounts and growing engagement through creative content.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
