VIDEO OPERATIONS/ENGINEERING

Take a peek at the technology behind the recording and broadcasting of some of the PBS programming you love the most!

The WEDU Video Operations/Engineering teams provide an invaluable service to the backbone of WEDU:

Video Operations: The Video Operations team provides production support during our studio productions for camera shaping, video recording, audio, and content formatting for broadcast.  They also make sure that what you see when watching our channels is as error-free as possible.

Engineering: Ensures that the technology being used functions as it should. The Engineering team is also responsible for IT, staff computers, cyber security, email systems, telephone systems, HVAC and electrical systems, and security.

Technology used: Video Switcher, Audio console, video recording systems, video playback systems, transcoding systems, cameras, video routers, IT routers, Firewalls, Broadcast Transmitter, and more.

A typical day in Operations and Engineering consists of production support for Florida This Week and Suncoast Business Forum, transcoding your favorite shows, fixing computers, deploying new technology, and more.

Some job titles in our department are Director of Engineering, Manager of Operations, Uplink Supervisor, Broadcast Engineer, and Operations Engineer.
