November is a month that inspires gratitude and a deep connection to cherished traditions. Just like many of you, I eagerly anticipate the Thanksgiving holiday, a time when families come together, and rituals are passed down through generations. For me, carving the turkey is more than a culinary skill; it's a link to my family's shared history, a tradition that has shaped my appreciation for togetherness. Beyond the delicious feast, it is the presence of loved ones that truly makes this holiday special.
Throughout my life, Thanksgiving has evolved, marking different stages of my journey. In my childhood, these traditions were orchestrated by my parents and other influential adults. In my early adulthood, I embraced these traditions while also crafting new ones for my own family. This year holds a unique significance as I strive to create meaningful moments for my mother, now residing in an assisted living center. I am dedicated to helping her reminisce about the joyous traditions of the past and create new memories together.
At WEDU PBS, we too uphold strong traditions that define our identity. As a PBS station, we are proudly recognized as America's classroom, dedicated to providing educational media that equips children with the tools for success in school and in life. Our commitment extends to delivering the high-quality programming that you, our viewers, depend on. With your unwavering support, WEDU continues to offer enlightening local storytelling, public affairs, and educational content.
This month, we celebrate the National Day of Giving, an initiative designed to ignite a wave of generosity that resonates throughout the year. I urge you to consider demonstrating your support and gratitude by making a special contribution to WEDU on Giving Tuesday, November 28, at wedu.org/givetues.
I am thrilled to share the news of a remarkable opportunity. Thanks to a generous $20,000 matching gift challenge from Randy and Debbie Zomermaand and The David Berolzheimer Foundation, every dollar you contribute will have double the impact.
Your gift will be matched, effectively doubling the difference you can make in securing the future of public media in our community.
Reflecting on this eventful year, I am deeply moved to express my heartfelt thanks. Your steadfast support has empowered us to bring you the outstanding local programming that defines WEDU. We owe you a debt of gratitude because your commitment is the very foundation upon which WEDU stands.
