Tampa, FL – WEDU PBS and Director of Content Kristine Kelly were honored with a 2020 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Award for a segment from WEDU’s locally produced series Arts Plus, highlighting Sarasota’s Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe! This year, WEDU had two segments from WEDU Arts Plus that were nominated for 2020 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards in the Arts and Entertainment category.

The winning Arts Plus segment features the work done by the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe and their founder, Nate Jacobs, to highlight the black experience in Sarasota’s theater community. After the segment was produced, WEDU went on to create a feature-length program about the troupe that is set to premiere this month.

This Light of Mine: The Making of Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, which features the full and compelling story of this community treasure, is set to premiere for broadcast on WEDU PBS on Thursday, December 17 at 9:00pm.
