DIY Cotton Swabs

Email share

Are you ready to start saving money and move in a zero-waste direction? If so, you're in luck!

I don't know if you're like me, but I go through so many cotton rounds. I use at least 3-4 a day. Whether it's to take off my makeup, clean my face, or do my nails, sometimes I feel like I am always running out of cotton rounds.

If you are running into the same problem or want to be more eco-conscious, you can make reusable cotton rounds that you can easily wash and reuse. Here's what you will need:

  • Cotton flannel or shirt
  • Scissors
  • Drinking glass (or something to trace a circle)
  • Pins
  • Fabric glue or sewing machine

Let’s get started!

Step 1:

Trace your circle pattern on your cloth. You will want to trace about 10-20 circles on your fabric. Note: Two circles will be glued together to create one cotton round.

Step 2:

Cut the circles you traced out on your fabric.

Step 3:

Put two circles together. You can use your pins to hold them in place.

Step 4:

Glue them together. Make sure you use a heat-resistant fabric glue that will hold up through washing. If you have a sewing machine, you can sew the outside of the fabric rounds together.

Step 5:

Enjoy never having to purchase cotton rounds again!

Benefits of Reusable Cotton Rounds

Not only will reusable cotton rounds save you time and money, but they are also a sustainable option that is better for the environment. Cotton rounds are made from cotton harvests that use pesticides and affect the environment. They also come packaged in plastic, which is harmful to the environment.

So, next time you run out of cotton rounds, try practicing a sustainable mindset and make your own!
