Recipe | Reindeer Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 30-oz tube refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough (or 1 batch of homemade dough, if you're fancy)
- 1 bag mini pretzels
- 1 bag red and green M&Ms
Directions
- Preheat oven according to cookie dough package instructions. Line several baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Pinch off a golf ball sized amount of dough. Use your hands to shape it into a flat triangle.
- At the top of the triangle, press a pretzel on either side for antlers.
- In the center of the triangle, place two green M&Ms for eyes.
- At the bottom of the triangle, place one red M&M for Rudolph's nose.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- Bake according to package instructions.
- Transfer to a cooling rack.
- While you wait to eat the cookies, enjoy leftover M&Ms. 🙂
The Story
This is less of a recipe and more of an edible craft. Every holiday season, my family bakes reindeer cookies to share with neighbors. We started this tradition when my husband and I got married in 2008; it gave me a way to bond with my stepdaughter, Ariel, who was 9 at the time. She's now 23, and we've added two more children to the mix—Norah and Benji. The kids keep growing, but this family-friendly treat remains delightfully unchanged.
